RELOAD STUDIOS RECEIVES
INVESTMENT FROM
WORLD INNOVATION LAB
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 2, 2015) — Reload Studios, the developer behind the world’s first online multiplayer shooter for Virtual Reality (VR) platforms, announced that it has received a $2M investment from World Innovation Lab (WiL), a technology investment firm based in both Silicon Valley and Tokyo.
Officially launched in July 2014, Reload Studios is led by former Call of Duty veterans and Disney feature animation creatives with a focus on producing consumer ready content that can drive the market and VR platforms.
James Chung, Reload Studios’ founder and CEO states, “We are extremely excited to be collaborating with WiL. Their support will help us focus on developing and promoting our current projects as well as growing Reload Studios beyond just a development studio.”
“We’re thrilled to be working with investors who truly believe in the future of what we are doing,” added Taehoon Oh, Reload Studios’ Co-founder and COO. “WiL has been an amazing partner so far and we look forward to what the future holds.”
Gen Isayama, WiL’s CEO and Co-founder states, “We are excited to join forces with such a talented team. We view Reload not as a VR gaming studio, but as a true pioneer in VR entertainment.”
As a first mover in VR, Reload Studios is recognized as a leader and problem solver in the field. Reload’s first title, “World War Toons,” is a cartoon inspired first-person shooter being developed for major VR headsets and traditional non-VR platforms. The game will be showcased at E3 this June and with it Reload Studios is proposing a way to define free navigation within a VR space while mitigating the potential for motion sickness via proprietary control schemes and settings.
Reload’s goals are to apply the same passion, philosophy and expertise that conceived record breaking, multibillion dollar franchises such as Call of Duty to create new, innovative properties with optimized performance best suited for emerging virtual reality hardware and video game platforms.
Reload currently has three internal projects in various stages of development.
